We’re thrilled to share an exciting opportunity to participate in Trusting News’ latest initiative, focused on transparency around AI use in journalism.
Supported by a grant from the Patrick J. McGovern Foundation, this program will explore how in-story disclosures about the use of AI can foster trust with audiences.
Building on the success of our first AI newsroom cohort, which helped create the AI Trust Kit, this second cohort will test in-story disclosure language directly with audiences. Apply here by Jan. 15.
Participating newsrooms will lead the way in shaping how transparency can strengthen trust in journalism.
Details
- Who: 10 newsrooms, with teams of 2–3 participants from any role involved in AI decision-making (freelancers not eligible).
- What: $2,000 stipend per newsroom upon completion.
- When: Feb. 3 — April 30, 2025.
- Commitment: 3 – 5 hours per week per team, weekly one-hour sessions, and management approval required.
Key requirements:
- Use AI in at least 10 stories during the cohort.
- Attach in-story surveys or feedback methods to disclosures.
- Share audience response data with Trusting News.
